About this role
As a Library Team Assistant (Family and Community Champion), you’ll play a vital role in supporting families to access services that improve health and wellbeing. You’ll ensure families feel welcomed, supported and confident.
This is a rewarding, people-focused role, ideal for someone passionate about early years, public health and community engagement, and who enjoys making a real difference. What you’ll do
- Promote the Healthy Start Scheme and the library’s wider offer to families, both within libraries and through community outreach.
- Provide guidance to parents and carers on digital applications, helping them navigate online forms and access wider digital support where needed.
- Deliver engaging outreach and early years activities, including workshops, drop-ins and pop-up events.
- Work collaboratively with health visitors, early years teams, schools, community groups and other library colleagues.
- Signpost families to relevant library services and community support and gather feedback to help improve services.
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with families, children or community groups, or a strong interest in early years and family wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm, empathetic approach.
- Confidence supporting people with basic digital tasks and online processes.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and support small scale events and activities.
- A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring services are welcoming and accessible to all.
Why join us
- Make a visible, positive impact on families’ health, wellbeing and access to support.
- Work in a varied, community based role with supportive colleagues and strong partnerships.
- Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
- Competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave entitlement, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
