About this role

Our Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit and Inpatient ward at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings offers you a choice of working with children and young people.

We can provide a bespoke career development pathway by using our highly motivated Practice Educator to support the appraisal process and regularly assess your skills and learning needs.

We believe those who would like the option to progress professionally within Paediatrics should be provided the opportunity to do so.

Your role will be to support the registered nurses within both ward and day unit areas.

You will provide some direct care to children under the supervision of registered nurses.

The is also a large focus on playing with the children to gain their co-operation especially during medical procedures. You will be expected to support the play specialist/playworker within your role.

You will be expected to learn how to take blood and also support the child during blood taking.

You will also need to ensure that all infection control precautions are adhered to.
