As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group are really pleased have recently opened a brand new SEND Secondary School in September 2025 in Chaldon, Surrey for young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All of our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students “every opportunity to achieve”
We are looking to recruit a Part-Time Catering Assistant to join our team at Chaldon School.
The main purpose of the role
Our support service teams are an essential pillar in enabling our young people to achieve their full potential.
The role of the Catering Assistant is to ensure prompt and efficient preparation and service of meals and to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the catering areas to the required standard.
With a strong emphasis on Health & Safety, you'll be expected to ensure that the catering areas are kept clean and tidy and in collaboration with the Cook and ensure that our food service is delivered in a professional, friendly and hygienic manner.
You will undertake tasks assigned to you regarding food preparation, cooking, cleaning, serving, and completion of Health and Safety paperwork.
Successful candidate qualities
Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards for the catering environment.
Knowledge of learning disabilities and/or special needs insofar as they impact upon the support services to be provided including management of individual needs (health, social etc.) and challenging behaviours.
Knowledge of the key aspects of Health and Safety legislation.
Excellent communication skills with a range of internal and external people, verbally and in writing
An enthusiasm for cooking, no formal training required, though any relevant qualifications would be desirable
Awareness of special diets and allergens
Good level of cleanliness
A warm and friendly attitude
