Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant for a full-time role within a welcoming secondary school in Hackney. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with behavioural and emotional needs, helping to create a positive and structured learning environment where all students can thrive.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to support students both inside and outside of the classroom. The role focuses on promoting positive behaviour, improving engagement, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Responsibilities
- Supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs within classroom settings and around the school.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies.
- Providing targeted support to students who may struggle with engagement, focus, or emotional regulation.
- Promoting positive relationships and encouraging students to make constructive choices.
- Assisting teachers in maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitoring and reporting on student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
- Supporting students during transitions, break times, and intervention sessions where required.
- Working collaboratively with pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external agencies when necessary.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working in a Behaviour Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or similar role.
- Experience supporting young people within a secondary school or alternative provision setting is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships quickly.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach when managing challenging behaviour.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with behavioural and additional learning needs.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team.
- Must hold a valid and an enhanced DBS check on the update service.
