About this role
This role has multiple priorities with the safety of mothers and babies and good patient experience as it’s main goal, achieved by ensuring a highly trained, competent and well-staffed workforce. It will focus on staff wellbeing and development, good and effective teamworking, an open and honest approach to maternity specific training and development with a strong focus on evidence-based care and learning from incidents.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create practice-based learning opportunities to reinforce classroom theory
- Ensure students achieve NMC requirements and escalate concerns appropriately
- Support students in practice and ensure adequate supervision
- Ensure appropriate assessor-to-student ratios in clinical areas
- Provide pastoral care and prioritise student wellbeing
- Oversee support and assessment for Return to Practice (RtP) and overseas midwives
- Liaise with clinical teams to provide wider experience placements
- Support staff involved in clinical incidents in collaboration with PMA team
- Ensure in-situ simulation training reflects clinical incidents and thematic reviews
- Provide clinical support as required, including participation in on-call rotas
- Maintain visible and supportive presence in clinical and training environments
