We are looking for a Band 7 Children’s Nurse who is ready to undertake the role of Blood, Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Coordinator to complement our existing nursing team.

As a Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Coordinator you will be equipped with knowledge and experience in Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant as well as emerging therapies, including gene therapy, to help lead specialised nursing practices.

You will work within our dynamic and friendly Haematology and Paediatric Bone Marrow Unit. The role will include coordinating care and working up patients for transplant and gene therapy treatments, supporting pathways from assessment through to delivery and follow-up.

The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide high-quality care to children with a variety of haematology conditions that require transplant and advanced cellular and gene therapies.

As leaders in our speciality, we would welcome you to develop your assessment skills, management ability and leadership. We will support you in advancing your extended nursing skills, including Leadership Courses, MSc Modules in the Presenting Child and Non-Medical Prescribing where appropriate.

  • The post holder will provide expert coordination and delivery of pre and post Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) and Gene Therapy care for children, managing a defined caseload of recipients and donors.
  • The role ensures high quality, safe, evidence based care delivered with compassion, placing children and their families at the centre of decision making.
  • The CNS will support strategic, operational and financial planning for the Children’s Stem Cell Service, working closely with the Lead Consultant, Children’s Haematology CNS, Matron, Service Manager and General Manager.
  • The role also contributes to multi-professional education, research, audit and service development.
  • To remain clinically credible within the role by being visible and continuously demonstrating the ability to apply specialised theoretical and practical knowledge by doing direct patient care as required by the service.
