As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for

  • Designing and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with special educational needs
  • Implementing evidence-based teaching strategies and assistive technologies to support students in achieving their individual learning goals
  • Maintaining detailed student records, monitoring progress, and providing comprehensive feedback to parents and the wider educational team
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary professionals, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and dynamic classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Participating in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay abreast of the latest SEND teaching methodologies and best practices

To be successful in this role, you will possess

  • A relevant teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. ), with a specialism in SEND
  • Substantial experience working as a SEND Teacher in a primary or secondary school setting
  • An in-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans, and the ability to implement effective strategies to support students with diverse needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and multi-disciplinary teams
  • A creative and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to develop innovative lesson plans and utilise a range of teaching methods
  • A deep commitment to inclusive education and a genuine desire to empower students with special educational needs to reach their full potential
