Highways Technology Operations Manager

We're looking for a Technology Operations Manager to join our TfL Tunnels & Pump Stations team based in Blackwall Tunnel.

Location

Blackwall Tunnel, E14 9PS - hybrid working available with expectation of 3 days on site.

Hours

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday

Salary

£50,000 to £60,000 per annum + car allowance + further benefits

Join us as a Technology Operations Manager and play a key role in overseeing the technology workstream on our TfL Tunnels & Pump Stations contract. You'll coordinate technical delivery, manage subcontractor performance, and ensure our technology systems operate reliably across tunnel and pump station sites. This is an opportunity to make a real impact, working collaboratively with stakeholders whilst providing expert technical guidance to support continuous improvement.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Technology Operations Manager, you'll be working within the Technology team, supporting them in delivering reliable, high-performing technology systems. Your day to day will include:

-Acting as the primary point of contact with our technology subcontractor Cubic, coordinating technical delivery and ensuring all contractual commitments are met

-Monitoring performance against KPIs, addressing any issues promptly, and implementing improvement plans to enhance system reliability

-Reviewing technical documentation, maintenance programmes, and method statements to ensure alignment with contract specifications

-Providing engineering oversight for communications, control systems, monitoring systems, and networked infrastructure within tunnels and pump stations

-Supporting onsite activities including fault investigation, system diagnostics, commissioning support, and coordination during critical incidents

What are we looking for?

This role of Technology Operations Manager is great for you if

-You have a degree or equivalent in a technology-focused engineering discipline, or relevant highways and traffic technology experience

-You've successfully managed subcontractors, ideally within technology or systems integration

-You understand mainstream highways technologies, communications networks, and control systems

-You're self-motivated with excellent communication skills, able to build positive relationships and work both independently and collaboratively

-You hold a valid UK full driving licence for site visits
