Part Time English Teacher - PRU - South East London - Immediate / September Start
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and resilient English Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South East London on a part-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for somebody passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require additional support outside of mainstream education.
The school supports students with a range of needs including SEMH, challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD, trauma backgrounds, and pupils at risk of exclusion.
The Role
You will be delivering engaging English lessons to secondary-aged students within a specialist PRU environment, adapting teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs and helping pupils re-engage with education.
Responsibilities Include
- Delivering English lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Planning and adapting lessons to meet varying learning abilities
- Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Building positive relationships and promoting engagement
- Managing behaviour in line with school policies and restorative approaches
- Working closely with support staff and wider professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Hold QTS (Essential)
- Have previous English teaching experience
- PRU, SEN, SEMH, behaviour, or alternative provision experience is highly desirable
- Be calm, resilient, and adaptable
- Have strong behaviour management skills
- Be passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
