The Opportunity

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading and supporting the nursing team, ensuring high-quality clinical care and maintaining excellent standards across nursing services.

Working alongside GP Partners and the wider multidisciplinary team, the Lead Practice Nurse will play a key role in service development, clinical leadership and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the nursing team
  • Support, mentor and develop Practice Nurses, HCAs and wider clinical staff
  • Deliver and oversee chronic disease management clinics including diabetes, asthma and COPD
  • Lead on clinical governance, infection prevention and quality improvement initiatives
  • Undertake cervical screening, immunisations and routine nursing procedures
  • Drive service improvements and contribute to practice strategy
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical processes are maintained
  • Support workforce planning, training and team development
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary primary care team
  • Promote patient-centred care and excellent patient experience

Candidate Requirements

The practice is keen to hear from experienced nurses who are passionate about leadership and delivering outstanding care.

Applicants should ideally have

  • Registered Nurse qualification with active NMC registration
  • Previous experience within General Practice or Primary Care
  • Experience managing long-term conditions including diabetes, asthma and COPD
  • Cytology and immunisation experience
  • Strong leadership or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and positive approach to service development
  • Prescribing qualification desirable but not essential
