The

Role of the SEN Teacher

You will teach a range of core subjects (eg: English, Maths, Science, Humanities) tailored to students functioning at lower Key

Stages. Some of your students may be taught by specialist teachers e.g. Design Technology, Drama and P.E. This will involve

liaising and collaborating with key stage three teachers to adapt the curriculum, monitor progress and plan for reintegration.

* You will play a role in teaching Phonics to secure key literacy skills for our weakest readers

* Provide high-quality pastoral care and managing the daily transition into school.

* Forge excellent home school relationships and provide regular feedback to parents/carers.

* Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher and SENCO to implement EHCP requirements and track small-step progress.

* Work with subject specialists to ensure your students receive a rich, balanced, but accessible education.

What We’re Looking For

* Qualification to the equivalent of degree level

* QTS

* Recent classroom teaching in a secondary or specialist setting or within KS2 phase.

* Commitment to provide students with an education of the highest standard

* Commitment to creating an enterprise in culture in young people

* Commitment to continued professional development

* A desire to be actively involved in the development of an academic and innovative department

* Willingness to be involved in staff teams across the school

* The ability to communicate the school’s vision in this curriculum area and to introduce strategies to make it a reality
