Purpose of Position

  • To undertake responsibility for the cleaning of the Home, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the residents.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • General cleaning, mopping floors, dusting, emptying bins, hoovering and buffing.
  • Cleaning daily all communal areas including corridors and stairs. Wiping handrails and doors, dusting/wet wiping all furniture, emptying waste bin and replacing with liner.
  • Clean daily all bathrooms and toilets, including sinks, baths, toilets, tiles and sills.
  • Ensure bathrooms have supply of toilet rolls, filled toilet tissue dispenser and hand soap/liquid dispenser.
  • Vacuum bedroom carpets daily, polish/dust furniture in bedrooms, vacuum carpets and wash skirtings.
  • Weekly wash thoroughly all dining chairs, tables and legs, pull out furniture in bedrooms, vacuum carpets and wash skirtings.
  • Clean monthly the general refuse bins and clinical wheelie bins outside the building by hosing out.
  • Ensure that sufficient cleaning supplies are available and that these are stored correctly. Report to the manager for reordering.
  • Must be familiar with COSHH Regulations in accordance with Home policy and carry out such duties with particular regard to Health and Safety and Fire Regulations.
  • To attend any training as required by the company in order to fulfil your duties and undertake any other duties as requested by the Manager, that are within your capabilities.
  • Due to the nature of the establishment, applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Other Duties

  • To attend any Team and other internal meetings as requested.
  • To attend relevant training and personal development opportunities in order to fulfil the requirements of the post.
  • To adhere to all R.E.A.C.H. policies and procedures and assist the organisation in developing, implementing and monitoring them, including Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety policies.
  • To carry out any other duties relevant to the post as directed by the Home Manager or Operations Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience / Skills

Essential

  • Some experience of domestic cleaning.
  • The ability to be flexible and prioritise workloads as required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • An interest in own personal development and a willingness to undertake training as required.

Desirable

  • Some experience of working/volunteering with people with Learning Disabilities is desirable, but you must have an empathy with the aims of R.E.A.C.H.
