Trainee Estimator - Façade, Curtain Walling & Aluminium Glazing Systems

We are recruiting a Trainee Estimator to join a busy façade and building envelope team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded candidate with hands-on estimating experience and a desire to progress into a senior estimating role. You will support and lead tender activity for high-value projects involving curtain walling, windows, doors and full building envelope solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support and lead high-value tender submissions for façade, curtain walling and aluminium glazing projects
• Prepare accurate take-offs, cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documents
• Interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications to develop scope, materials and installation methodology
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and design teams to obtain quotations and clarify technical queries
• Carry out value engineering, risk analysis and cost benchmarking to produce competitive and compliant bids
• Attend site surveys and pre-tender meetings as required
• Maintain estimating databases, tender registers and document control
• Work under the mentorship of senior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes

Essential skills and experience

• Proven experience leading high-value tenders within façade, curtain walling, or aluminium glazing systems
• Strong technical knowledge of curtain walling, windows, doors and building envelope solutions
• Ability to interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with take-off and estimating software
• Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness to visit sites and attend project meetings

Desirable

• Experience with AutoCAD/Revit or other drawing software
• Formal qualification in construction, engineering or surveying (or equivalent industry experience)
• Knowledge of UK building regulations and relevant standards for façades and glazing
