About Thomas Bennett Community College

Thomas Bennett Community College is a welcoming and ambitious 11–18 secondary school at the heart of the Crawley community,

serving families across the town and the wider West Sussex area. As part of The Kemnal Academies Trust, the school combines a

strong community ethos with the advantages of a wider network of collaboration and support. With more than 1,200 students,

including a thriving sixth form, it provides an inclusive and supportive environment where young people are encouraged to achieve

The Role of the HLTA (Learning Support)

* Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-impact specialist interventions, including

* handwriting, communication, and SALC programmes, to support students’ academic and physical development.

* Utilize specialist skills and experience to support students with complex learning, behavioural,

* or emotional needs, adapting learning materials to ensure accessibility.

* Conduct and analyze diagnostic screeners for students, including Dyslexia and Speech,

* Language, and Communication (SALC) screenings, to identify barriers to learning and inform targeted support plans.

* Collaborate with subject teachers to contribute to the planning of lessons, preparing

* resources that meet the diverse needs of secondary school students.

* Monitor student responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement and

* progress using the school’s tracking systems.

EHCP Annual Reviews

Actively contribute to the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Annual Review (AR) process by compiling

student progress data, preparing comprehensive reports, and attending review meetings as a key representative of the Inclusion

team.

What We’re Looking For

* HLTA Status (or a recognized equivalent Level 4 qualification).

* Significant experience working as a TA within a UK secondary school setting.

* Experience of leading whole classes or large groups independently.

* Experience working with students with SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH).
