Medical Receptionist Responsible to
Practice Manager Job Summary
The Medical Receptionist will provide an efficient, professional, and welcoming front-line service to patients and visitors at the practice. The post holder will support the smooth running of reception and administrative services while ensuring excellent patient care and confidentiality at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with patient enquiries efficiently Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the clinical system Register new patients and update patient records accurately Process prescription requests in line with practice procedures Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and scanning Support clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative tasks Ensure patient information is handled confidentially and in accordance with GDPR and NHS policies Maintain a clean, organised, and professional reception area Process documents and workflow tasks using the clinical system Signpost patients to appropriate services where required Support the practice in achieving high standards of patient service and care Work collaboratively with all members of the practice team Attend training and team meetings as required The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and responsibilities of the position.
