East London | Small Animal Veterinary Practice | Up to £36,000 DOE

An established and highly regarded small animal veterinary practice in the heart of East London is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its welcoming and experienced team on a full-time basis.

Situated close to iconic East London landmarks including Billingsgate Fish Market, E Pellicci Café, and the Columbia Road Flower Market, this thriving veterinary practice has been supporting pets and their owners in the local community for many years. With a strong reputation for delivering exceptional patient care and an ISFM-accredited commitment to feline welfare, this is an exciting opportunity for an RVN seeking a busy and rewarding role in a well-established GP setting.

About the Role

This role would suit a Registered Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced GP environment, enjoys building strong client relationships, and is passionate about delivering high standards of nursing care to small animals.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and energetic team consisting of 1.2 Veterinary Surgeons, a Senior RVN, and enthusiastic trainee nurses, offering an excellent opportunity to collaborate, learn, and develop professionally.

The practice sees a varied caseload, providing invaluable diagnostic, surgical, and preventative care to the local pet population. For RVNs who enjoy autonomy and patient interaction, there is significant opportunity to conduct nurse consults, alongside exposure to a large surgical caseload and general anaesthesia (GA).

Hours & Rota

  • Full-time position – Monday to Friday
  • 1:4 branch Saturday rota
  • 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation
  • Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) provided
  • 1–2 bank holidays per annum
  • No on-call requirements

Veterinary Facilities

The practice is well-equipped with modern veterinary facilities, including

  • Digital X-ray
  • Dental X-ray
  • Ultrasound

For more advanced procedures, internal referrals, out-of-hours care, and hospitalisation, the branch is fully supported by a nearby 24-hour sister hospital.

Key Responsibilities

As a Branch RVN, duties will include

  • Delivering a high standard of nursing care while continuously improving patient outcomes
  • Assisting veterinary surgeons during consultations and surgical procedures
  • Supporting patients during theatre, anaesthesia, and recovery
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate patient hospitalisation records
  • Ensuring the highest levels of patient comfort, welfare, and wellbeing
  • Cleaning, packing, sterilising, and maintaining veterinary equipment
  • Managing stock levels of drugs, consumables, and prescription diets
  • Supporting the induction and training of new team members
  • Acting as a Clinical Supervisor for student veterinary nurses
  • Providing occasional reception and client care duties, including telephone, email, and in-person communication

Salary & Benefits

Salary

£32,000 – £36,000 per annum, dependent on experience, with opportunities for progression and development within the role.
