Introduction to YSJ
York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.
As one of the fastest-growing universities in the U.K over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset.
The Team
The team is led by the Head of Immigration and Compliance, who oversees operations across both campuses. Each location - York and London - is staffed by its own International Visa and Compliance Manager and International Visa and Compliance Advisor.
The Role
We are currently seeking an International Visa & Compliance Manager to join our YSJ Global team on a one year-fixed term maternity cover basis at our London campus. In this role, you will take lead responsibility for ensuring the University remains compliant with all UKVI regulations and legislation relating to student immigration, while line managing the International Visa & Compliance Advisor(s) at the London campus and providing cover for the York campus team in the absence of the York International Visa & Compliance Manager. You will oversee the full range of visa advising and compliance activities, including acting as a Level 1 User of the Home Office Sponsor Management System, leading on UKVI audit preparation, and delivering accurate, timely visa advice to prospective and current students. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced immigration professional to play a central role in supporting our international student community across both campuses.
Required skills and experience
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in student immigration compliance - experience working with UKVI regulations and policies, and a deep understanding of the Higher Education sector. You will also have the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
We value diversity and welcome applicants from various industries. If you have experience in other sectors and are passionate about making a difference in Higher Education, and wish to join a dynamic team committed to delivering an excellent student experience, we encourage you to apply for the role.
Additional Information
Please do not hesitate to get in touch for an informal conversation with Tafadzwa Christian, Head of Immigration and Compliance (t.christian@yorksj.ac.uk).
It is anticipated that the selection process will include an interview. Further details will be provided if you are shortlisted for interview.
