The role
We’re looking for a Test Engineer to join our Digital Store Channels team, working closely with our Devices capability to handle collections and returns for our customers.
You’ll play a key role in defining and delivering a test strategy that advances our automated testing capability, while supporting sprint delivery within a Scrum environment. You’ll balance hands-on testing with strategic thinking, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tester with strong JavaScript skills and a passion for automation to grow their impact in a collaborative, forward-thinking engineering culture.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop and execute manual and automated tests across functional, API, end-to-end and regression scenarios
- Contribute to and evolve automated test frameworks using tools such as Playwright and similar
- Drive improvements to automated testing within the release and deployment process
- Work closely with engineers and product teams to ensure clear, testable acceptance criteria are defined for user stories
- Execute tests, analyse results, monitor quality metrics and clearly communicate findings gathered through automation and manual in-store discovery to the engineering team
- Identify, document and prioritise defects with appropriate supporting detail
- Support continuous improvement across testing practices, tools and ways of working
- Stay up to date with emerging testing and automation technologies while maintaining a strong focus on work-life balance
Essential criteria
You’ll bring energy, curiosity and a proactive mindset, along with the following essential skills and experience
- Strong JavaScript engineering and coding skills
- Proven experience in manual testing, with a clear interest in developing automated testing expertise
- Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of automated testing frameworks such as Playwright
- Ability to create clear and effective test cases and test documentation from User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
- Practical experience working in Agile environments, particularly Scrum
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and in-store colleagues
- Ability to write, maintain and communicate concise technical documentation
Desirable experience
- Experience using GitHub CI/CD actions or workflows
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for ticket management and documentation
- Practical knowledge of NextJS or React
- Experience or understanding of backend testing frameworks (e.g. Java)
