You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the midday break. You will be a member
of a team led by a Senior Midday Supervisor under the direction of the Learning Mentor and the Head teacher.
Your specific duties will be
To maintain order and the safe transfer of pupils to and from the dining area
To positively encourage good behaviour, table manners and hygiene
To assist younger pupils where necessary whilst they are taking a meal
To actively supervise the dining room procedures:-
* Carrying of meal to the table
* Assisting with the service at the table
* Training children in the correct use of cutlery
* Clearing and stacking table equipment and serving dishes
* Wiping and re-setting tables if necessary
* Cleaning up food and water spillages on tables and floors
To administer first aid, in the case of minor accidents, acting on the advice of the registered first aider if you have not
received this training yourself
Record accidents in the first aid record and report serious accidents to the Heads of School and the Office Manager
To receive and act upon safeguarding training reporting any concerns immediately to a designated safeguarding officer
You will supervise for organising play activities in the playground or indoors if wet
To maintain good discipline and apply the school rules fairly
To encourage sensible play and behaviour at all times
To give and receive respect from the children
To work outside in the playground in all weathers and patrol the designated area independently, observing children’s play and
safety at all times
To use initiative and common sense during active duty times
To liaise with Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff in dealing with problems arising from pupil behaviour and any other
matter of concern
To contribute as a member of the team to the ethos and environment of the school
To adhere to the need for confidentiality at all times
To perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of
responsibility
Other conditions for the job role are
If you are unwell and unable to perform you duties on any given day you should report this to the office manager as early as is
practical, in line with the School Absence Reporting procedures.
The position is term time only so you will be expected to be in school every day the children are present and leave will only be
granted in exceptional circumstances.
