1181618) is a registered charity organisation under The Regulator of Charities in England & Wales. We have regular services at Sri Venkateshwara Balaji Temple & Cultural Centre at Whynscar House, Grenville Place, The Ring, Bracknell Town Centre, Berkshire RG12 1BP, UK.
SVBTCC is looking for a specialised Vaikhanasa Agama Vaishnava Priest who will lead daily prayers, Archana and Hindu ritual services.
ROLE OBJECTIVE
- To contribute to organisational growth by providing quality service to ensure the spiritual needs of the devotees.
- To guide and direct his assistants, if any, to ensure that all activities are carried out at the scheduled time and in a sanctified manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- To perform all Poojas (prayers), Abhishekas (baths to the deities) and other ceremonies as per the traditions of the Temple.
- Follow Temple punctuality and cook Swamy Vaari Nitya Naivaidyam (for daily pooja).
- Alamkaram, i.e., decoration of the deities and Moola Sthanam.
- Performing special Utsavams, such as annual Brahmotsavams and Homams.
- To ensure that the deities and the altar are clean and tidy at all times. This includes the polishing of the metal deities, disposal of all used flowers, arranging the deities’ clothing in the appropriate cupboards, washing wet towels immediately after the prayers, keeping the cupboards used to store clothing, Pooja items, etc. tidy, and arranging them on a daily basis.
- Comply with Temple administration guidelines and procedures/policies.
- To officiate all Hindu rituals conducted within the Temple, e.g., religious ceremonies, housewarming ceremonies, anniversaries, weddings, etc.
- Must collaborate with the Temple Trustee Board, key committees and colleagues for the successful delivery of priest activities.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Applicant should have a Brahmin lineage of priesthood/Purohitam/Archana category.
- Must have a Vaikhanasa Vaishnava Agama qualification from a reputed Vedic school, either in India or overseas. Three to five years of full-time Vedic school educational qualification – Diploma, Certification or Degree.
- Four to five years of experience in Temple Archana (preferably in a Vaishnava temple), other Poojas and Purohitam.
- Must have primary school education, but higher school or college/university education is desirable.
- Ability to guide devotees on Agama, Archana and rituals as per Agama guidelines.
- Ability to communicate in English, deal with devotees and the public with passion, collaborate and build positive relationships.
- Be of exemplary character befitting the position of a Priest in a Hindu Temple and should be vegetarian, adhering to a religious and Vedic way of life, including being a teetotaller and refraining from tobacco consumption.
Remuneration
£26,000 per annum
SVBTCC is a charity organisation, and we comply with the National Minimum Wage Regulations. We also provide holiday pay and other benefits in accordance with the laws of the UK.
