We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Lecturer in Marine (Engineering) at ou Southampton College.

Duties
- Classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements
- All associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking and appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities;
- Acting as a Personal Tutor to students as required and undertaking all of the associated duties including pastoral care support.
- Making a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
- Implementing a student-centred negotiated learning programme in accordance with the College's curriculum framework.
- Implementing agreed induction procedures and processes for students.
- Ensuring that students are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their programme and that an awareness of what the programme involves is a feature of all reviews undertaken with students.
- Ensuring that appropriate assignments, tasks and activities are regularly set and assessed and that feedback is given to students in ways that will allow them to develop and achieve progression.
- Contributing to the organisation of and ensure that there are appropriate work placements.
- Ensuring that information concerning student discipline is accessible and made available to the relevant Manager.
- Working with the relevant Manger to identify professional development needs related to the area.
- Assisting in identifying the resources required for the programme area and planning replacement and updating as necessary.
- Contributing to the preparation of budget forecasts and helping to ensure that all budget limits are kept.
- Ensuing that the physical learning environment is well-ordered and stimulating through displays of materials, students' work, etc.

environmental policies.
- Developing the requirements arising out of any changes to either the curriculum or syllabus, or the standards set by any relevant external body.
Skills/Experience
- Good working knowledge of IT tools (ECDL or equivalent level)
- Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge
- Previous teaching experience or has supported apprentices in the workplace is desirable
- Excellent knowledge of recent initiatives in curriculum development & design is desirable
Qualifications
- Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent
- Level 3 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
- Level 4 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
- Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
