Would you like to be part of a remote and rural island community, where you can deliver truly person-centred care and support to individuals across the life span? Then this may be the opportunity you have been looking for.

We have a part time vacancy for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to help support our Primary Care/ Urgent Unscheduled Care service across Shetland. The post holder will work flexibly as part of an established ANP team, providing a front line service for general practice patients in various different Health centres.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners will see patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Using patient history, clinical assessment and a comprehensive physical examination, utilising expert knowledge and clinical judgement, the ANP will be able to identify the potential diagnosis. The ANP will be able to initiate laboratory and radiological investigations, make referrals, prescribe and evaluate treatments appropriate to the clinical situation and needs of the patient.

As an experienced nurse with Registration on Part 1 of the NMC Register, you will possess extensive post registration experience. A Master’s degree/PgDip in Advanced Practice which incorporates a programme of Advanced Clinical Examination Skills and Extended Independent (non-medical) Prescribing qualification is an essential requirement for this post. Candidates are also required to possess evidence of ongoing professional development.
