Refuse Loader (Commercial Waste)

We are recruiting reliable, physically fit Refuse Loaders to join a busy commercial waste team. This is a hands-on role carrying out bin collection and waste handling on early and variable shifts. The successful candidates will have practical experience in waste management and commercial waste collections and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather.

Due to the yard location and shift start and finish times, candidates must have access to their own vehicle.

Early shifts start between 2am to 4am Late shifts start between 12pm to 4pm

Key responsibilities

• Load and secure commercial bins and containers onto vehicle trailers and refuse vehicles
• Perform routine bin collection rounds safely and efficiently
• Carry out manual handling tasks in accordance with training and safety procedures
• Assist with segregating and managing waste streams as directed by the crew leader
• Report incidents, damaged bins or site issues promptly
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and assist driver as required

Desirable skills and requirements

• Proven experience in manual handling and physical lifting in a waste or similar environment
• Experience with commercial waste collections and bin collection operations
• Knowledge of basic waste management practices and segregation
• Comfortable working early starts and a variable shift pattern.
• Enhanced DBS certificate required (must hold or be willing to undergo Enhanced DBS check)
• Strong teamworking skills, punctuality and a good work ethic
