Tru Talent is delighted to be working with a well-established waste management client who is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to support the Finance Director and wider finance team. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant
- Processing customer and supplier invoices accurately and on time
- Maintaining purchase ledger and sales ledger records
- Collecting monthly direct debit payments
- Allocating customer payments and reconciling customer accounts
- Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
- Carrying out credit control duties, including chasing outstanding payments
- Supporting month-end processes and management accounts preparation
- Entering financial data into internal accounting systems
- Managing the finance department mailbox and handling incoming post
- Responding to customer and supplier enquiries via telephone and email
- Liaising with Sales and Customer Service teams to resolve account queries
- Providing general administrative support to the Finance Director and finance team
- Assisting colleagues across the business when required
Needed for the role of
Accounts Assistant
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
- Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, flexible and customer-focused approach
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
