About this role

City St George’s, University of London is the University of business, practice and the professions and brings together the expertise and excellence of City, University of London and St George’s, University of London into one institution. The combined university is now one of the largest higher education destinations for London students, combining a breadth of disciplines across health, business, policy, law, creativity, communications, science and technology. Our students are at the heart of everything that we do, and we are committed to supporting them to pursue their career and personal ambitions.

Our research is engaged, at the frontier of practice and has a positive impact on the world around us.

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated individual as a research assistant. We are keen to hear from candidates with knowledge of and experience with applying standard empirical research methods in applied microeconomics. The appointed candidate will support Dr.

Sujata Visaria (https

//www.bayes.citystgeorges.ac.uk/faculties-and-research/experts/sujata-visaria) with empirical research projects that generate and use micro-level data from Vietnam and the Philippines. Depending on the appointee's aptitude and interest, there is scope for professional growth and skill development relevant to a research-focused higher education.

The post holder will primarily contribute to data processing and analysis, survey design, literature reviews, report writing and presentations. We envision the individual will mainly work on two empirical research projects that involve primary and secondary data, one analysing the impact of cassava production on socio-economic outcomes in Vietnam, and the other involving a randomised controlled trial of a financial empowerment intervention for migrant workers from Philippines. Responsibilities will include literature reviews; quantitative data cleaning; analysis; reporting of findings; the design of questionnaires, intervention materials, and training manuals; liaising with overseas collaborators, and participation in regular meetings with the supervisor and larger research team.
