About this role

Community Occupational Therapist (Physical) Band 6

Band 5 to band 6 developmental opportunity

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives through physical rehabilitation when discharged home from hospital? What about an opportunity to support the Ambulance services via an Urgent Care Response referral?

North Bedfordshire is looking for a full time band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within the 7 day service.

You need to be responsive, have strong assessment skills with a personalised approach for a wide range of needs/conditions. You will then develop, implement, manage and review the planned recommendations. You will need skills in moving and handling, risk assessing and identifying solutions to reduce risk.

You will work closely alongside all members of the therapy team, as well as the wider multi-disciplinary workforce across Bedfordshire, building close links with professionals and services required to wrap around the needs of each individual to provide a holistic approach.

You will line manage and supervise unqualified staff within the team, supporting them to provide an excellent level of service to the local population. There is also an expectation to support student placements.

All applicants should hold a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy and be registered with HCPC.

We are committed to supporting workforce development and welcome applications from experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapists who demonstrate the potential to progress to Band 6.

Candidates who do not yet meet all Band 6 competencies may be appointed at Band 5 within a structured developmental role, with a clear competency framework and support in place to enable progression to Band 6, typically within 12 months, subject to successful assessment and service needs.

ELFT is committed to equality of opportunity for all employees, job applicants and service users. We are committed to ensuring that no one will be discriminated against on the grounds of race, colour, creed, ethnic or national origin, disability, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation or marital status. The Trust commits itself to promote equal opportunities and value diversity and will keep under review its policies, procedures and practices to ensure that all employees, users and providers of its services are treated according to their needs.
