About this role

This role involves working alongside assistant practitioners, supervising, and mentoring as required. To perform high quality diagnostic breast imaging to demonstrate or exclude breast cancer on all women attending the symptomatic or breast screening services, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care. As a Senior Mammographer, youwill be expected to lead by example and work independently in accordance with departmental Standard Operating procedures and be accountable for your own actions, liaising with the Breast Imaging Service Manager, as necessary. When working in the mobile screening unit you will be the lead specialist for breast screening, provide advice and assistance to colleagues as required. Participate in the Breast Imaging Services staff rotation both on the Mobile Unit and at the Breast Care Unit and undertake all associated admin and clinical duties as required. To transport clinic paperwork and other consumable items to and from distant sites in accordance with Caldicott principals and local guidelines. To work autonomously within own specialist area, consulting senior staff as and when necessary and will be accountable for own professional actions. Work swiftly and efficiently so that breast screening lists are completed in the allocated time and ensuring that Technical Repeat rates conform to NHSBSP standards of less than 3%. To be responsible for the safe use of all digital mammographic equipment and its peripheries. To be able to adapt mammography positioning technique according to client/patient requirements/limitations. Please refer to the Job Description for further details
