OFFICE BASED POSITION

Hourly rate

£14.99ph

Working Days/Hours

Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 4:45pm, with a 45-minute lunch break. (36 hours per week)

Contract

This is a temporary position until Sep 2026 with a possibility for extension.

Training

Full training will be provided.

Brook Street in partnership with Environmental Agency with a fantastic opportunity to join their busy Accounts payable team as a Senior Clerical Officer. This is great opportunity to gain valuable exposure/experience working within the Public Sector.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring invoices and related documentation are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and inputting invoice data accurately.
  • Opening and distributing incoming post.
  • Batching and preparing invoices for processing.
  • Managing email correspondence and responding to queries.
  • Customer service (Telephone/directly customer facing).
  • Handling incoming telephone calls in a professional manner.
  • Providing administrative support to the Accounts Payable team.
  • Maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
  • Assisting with other general clerical and administrative duties as required.
  • Processing supplier invoices for payment and dealing with queries by phone, email and post from Schools, Suppliers and Budget Holders

Essential Criteria

  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous finance or accounts experience would be advantageous.
  • Good Excel skills would be beneficial.
