Job Summary
We're recruiting a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant to support a well‑established service, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care across trauma, elective surgery and outpatient pathways. This role suits a locum consultant with at least six months recent NHS experience who can adapt quickly to NHS clinical systems, pathways and multidisciplinary working.
You'll manage a varied caseload and contribute to subspecialty services such as lower limb, upper limb or foot and ankle surgery, complementing existing teams and supporting wider service development within a collaborative clinical environment.

You're a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant who enjoys working in a busy, fast‑paced setting and is committed to delivering safe, compassionate care. You communicate confidently, work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and bring sound clinical judgement to both trauma and elective cases.
You value collaborative working, continuous improvement and delivering a high‑quality patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Trauma and Orthopaedic outpatient clinics, providing specialist assessment and follow‑up care
- Contribute to trauma lists and the consultant‑led trauma rota, supporting the safe delivery of trauma services
- Deliver elective surgical care aligned to your subspecialty expertise
- Provide evidence‑based treatment plans and clear guidance to patients, families and healthcare partners
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with service and regulatory standards
- Work closely with theatre teams, physiotherapists and wider MDT colleagues to support smooth patient pathways
- Participate in clinical governance, CPD, teaching and service improvement activities
Essential Skills & Experience
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Minimum six months recent NHS experience
- Experience delivering trauma care, elective surgical activity and outpatient assessments at consultant level
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate, patient‑focused approach
