Job summary

HomeHops is a new app-based marketplace connecting customers with independent cleaners and cleaning businesses in their local area.

The HomeHops platform is scheduled to launch on or around 7 August 2026. We are currently inviting independent cleaners and established cleaning businesses to register and complete the required verification before the launch.

Customers are expected to begin booking services through the platform following its launch. Suitable bookings will be matched with cleaners covering the customer’s area. You choose the services you provide, the areas you cover, your availability and the rates customers pay.

You can set rates of £18–£25 per hour or more. There is no fixed upper rate, although customers decide whom to book based on each cleaner’s prices, services, availability and profile.

HomeHops does not charge cleaners a registration fee, subscription, commission or platform service fee. The customer pays HomeHops a separate service fee.

This is a self-employed opportunity, not an employed or salaried position. HomeHops is a new platform, so the number of customers and bookings available after launch cannot be guaranteed. Bookings will depend on customer demand in your selected areas.

Your responsibilities

Provide professional services for customers booking through HomeHops

Supply your own cleaning products, materials and equipment

Travel to customer properties in the areas you select

Attend accepted bookings at the agreed date and time

Complete the customer’s requested work to a professional standard

Communicate professionally with customers

Manage your services, availability, working areas and rates through the platform

Follow appropriate health, safety and hygiene practices

Requirements

Valid identification

Evidence of your right to undertake self-employed work in the UK

A smartphone with internet access

Your own cleaning products and equipment

The ability to travel to customer addresses

A reliable, professional and customer-focused approach

Previous cleaning experience or experience operating a cleaning business is preferred

Public liability insurance is recommended but is not currently compulsory to register with HomeHops. Cleaners and cleaning businesses are responsible for deciding what insurance they require for the services they provide.

Earnings, fees and expenses

You set your own service rates. These may be £18–£25 per hour or more, depending on the services you provide and the prices you choose.

HomeHops does not deduct any commission or platform fee from your rate. However, Stripe’s payment-processing charge is deducted from each payment. Stripe currently charges 1.5% plus 20p for payments made using a standard UK card. Charges may be higher for other card types or payment methods and may change in accordance with Stripe’s pricing terms.

As a self-employed service provider, you are responsible for declaring your income and paying your own Income Tax and National Insurance. You will not receive employee benefits such as holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions or guaranteed hours.
