About this role

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and inspiring HCPC Registered Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to welcome into our Mental Health Services in Bedfordshire in a post which has leadership elements alongside clinical and supervision responsibilities. You will provide senior clinical and strategic input into the BedfordAdult Community Mental Health Service which provide care and support for people and their families who experience serious mental health difficulties, such as psychosis and complex emotional needs.

The post is suitable for an experienced Psychologist who champions adult mental health and psychology. You must have an excellent understanding of working systemically across and within organisational boundaries. You must be keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse County, have experience of working with adults with complex mental health needs and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We develop and deliver our services through co-production with staff and people with lived experience.

There are opportunities for excellent CPD that supports the Trust Strategy. Much of the work is in person in Bedford CMHT and you will be expected to travel on occasion across the County.

The main duties involve ensuring the systematic provision of a high-quality comprehensive specialist psychological service to the service users of the Community Mental Health Service. You will work closely with the team managers and senior clinicians in leadership roles, and be part of a thriving multi-disciplinary network of mental health professionals, Peer Support Workers, VCSE partners and administrators. There is a dedicated group of psychologists (including Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Assistant Psychologists and Clinical Associates in Psychology) and therapists for whom you would provide supervision and leadership.

You will provide professional, operational, supervision and clinical leadership for psychological professionals within the area, with governance responsibility for agreeing case and workload levels, managing flow of psychology provision in CMHT, and systems of monitoring quality of practice.

Contribute to effective, robust and culturally competent psychological provision, monitoring and implementation of professional standards in the practice of trauma informed, applied psychology and psychological therapies and interventions.

Highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and therapies, specialist risk assessments and advice on risk management, and the provision of psychological advice and consultation to others involved in service user care.
