We are seeking a highly organised and professional Loading Bay Manager to oversee all loading bay activities end-to-end, ensuring a secure, compliant and efficient service at all times.
The successful candidate will coordinate vehicle movements, deliveries and access control while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and customer service.
Job Description
We are looking for an individual with strong stakeholder management and communication skills who can effectively balance operational requirements with security considerations.
This role will act as the key point of contact for loading bay operations, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, couriers and contractors to deliver a seamless service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all loading bay operations, ensuring a safe, secure, compliant and efficient service.
Coordinate incoming and outgoing vehicular traffic, including scheduling, marshalling and access control.
Plan and manage courier, supplier and contractor deliveries to maintain operational flow.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as the primary contact for loading bay matters.
Negotiate and influence stakeholders to balance operational efficiency with security requirements.
Deliver exceptional customer service to internal clients and visitors using the loading bay facilities.
Apply and enforce security protocols and screening procedures for all deliveries, vehicles and personnel.
Maintain accurate records, monitor operational risks and incidents, and support continuous improvement initiatives across loading bay processes and health & safety standards.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Proven experience within a loading bay, logistics, goods-in, or vehicle/traffic management environment.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to negotiate and influence multiple internal and external parties.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional and courteous approach.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to identify, assess and escalate security concerns, near misses and operational risks appropriately.
Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain SC (Security Check) clearance and complete all mandatory training requirements.
IOSH, NEBOSH, COSHH and any FTL/Warehouse qualifications would be advantageous.
