About this role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Clinical Fellow (ST1/2 level) to join our Oncology team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. This post offers excellent experience for doctors wishing to pursue a career in Oncology or related specialties.
The successful applicant will work primarily on the Oncology wards, with opportunities to work closely with the Acute Oncology Service. The role involves working closely with consultants, junior doctors, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
The post holder will also be expected to participate in teaching, audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities, supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate education. This is an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills, gain oncology exposure, and build a strong foundation for future career progression
The Junior Clinical Fellow will
- Assess and manage patients receiving inpatient chemotherapy
- Support junior doctors working across Oncology wards
- Work under Consultant supervision to deliver safe and effective patient care
- Participate in board rounds
- Work closely with the Acute Oncology Service and relevant on-call rota
- Provide cross-cover for colleagues during periods of leave
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
In addition, the post holder will
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, and governance activities
- Deliver teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate learners
- Undertake continuing professional development and study leave activities
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care are maintained at all times
This role requires excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills, alongside a strong commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement
