Mobile Fabric Engineer

South London (MET Police Contract)

At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day.We're looking for a Mobile Fabric Engineer to deliver high‑quality building fabric maintenance across a range of Metropolitan Police sites in South London.

Role Responsibilities

-Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric repairs across designated MET Police buildings.

-Perform carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general building fabric maintenance as required.

-Complete minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, walls, partitions, and building finishes.

-Ensure all work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in accordance with contractual SLAs and KPIs.

-Maintain accurate records using Mitie systems, including job sheets, asset updates, and compliance documentation.

-Liaise professionally with the client and site personnel, ensuring minimal disruption to sensitive environments.

-Diagnose issues, propose solutions, and escalate complex problems when required.

-Participate in the out-of-hours rota (where applicable) to support emergency call‑outs on police estates.

Required QualificationsApplicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role

-Proven experience in a building fabric or multi‑trade position (carpentry preferred but not essential).

-Full UK driving licence (mobile role with van provided).

-Strong understanding of health & safety standards and safe working practices.

-Ability to work independently across multiple sites with excellent problem‑solving skills.

-Ability to pass and maintain Metropolitan Police vetting (essential) - which could take from 7-10 months
