About this role

This is an exciting opportunity for a full time (1.0 WTE) Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our Maternity Trauma and Loss Care (MTLC) Service.

The service supports women and birthing people affected by pregnancy loss (including terminations for any reason), stillbirth, neonatal loss, perinatal trauma, and fear of pregnancy or childbirth (tokophobia). The service offers specialist psychological therapy alongside specialist midwifery input for those whose needs cannot be met within primary or secondary care services.

MTLC has been developed in collaboration with Experts by Experience, drawing on the valuable input of local women and birthing people who have experienced maternity trauma and loss.

The post holder will provide support to a dedicated multidisciplinary team and play a key role in collecting and managing clinical outcome data. There will also be opportunities to support screening, initial assessments and the delivery of evidence-based group interventions.

As a tri-borough service, the successful candidate will be required to work across Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow.

Entry requirements include an undergraduate degree in Psychology and eligibility for graduate membership with the British Psychological Society

Able to demonstrate an understanding of a range of psychological models and their application to women who have experienced trauma and/or loss within the maternity context.

An understanding of outcome measures relevant to trauma and perinatal mental health contexts.

Support the screening and triaging of new referrals and present these within multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

Undertake initial assessments (initially jointly, progressing to independent working as competence develops).

Support service audit activity.

Co-facilitate groups and contribute to the development and updating of group materials.

Lead on maintaining the external resource directory and associated materials.
