About this role
Orthotist
Band 7
37.5 hours
Fixed term - 6 months
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Orthotist to join our team at Tameside during a transformative period, as we develop and establish a new in-house Orthotics service.
This is a fantastic time to be part of shaping and leading a high-quality, patient-centred service. You will work as an autonomous, highly specialist practitioner, managing a complex caseload across outpatient and inpatient settings while playing a key role in service development, clinical leadership, and innovation.
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Orthotist with strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for improving patient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to building pathways, driving quality improvement, and ensuring excellent standards of care.
- To be the named lead for the Orthotic service and devise and implement appropriate clinical guidelines and patient pathways associated with this area.
- To act as an Orthotic point of contact for colleagues and other professionals.
- To perform advanced therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
- To be responsible for your own caseload and a defined area of the service and provide support/supervision/training to colleagues working in your specialist area.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
- Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own clinical practice. Make recommendations liaising with the operational management team for changes to practice, which may lead to the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service guidelines.
- To introduce and manage innovation and change using QI principles.
