We are working closely with a local authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of a Temporary Accommodation Assistant, on a 6.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary
The Temporary Accommodation Assistant plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery of Somerset Council's Temporary Accommodation Service by coordinating the allocation, administration, and monitoring of temporary accommodation for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing crisis. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate accommodation records, liaising with accommodation providers, monitoring occupancy, coordinating inspections, and ensuring compliance with homelessness legislation, Housing Benefit regulations, and Council policies.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of all temporary accommodation bookings, placements, transfers, and departures.
Ensure all service users complete Housing Benefit applications before entering temporary accommodation wherever possible.
Investigate and resolve complaints or accommodation issues in a timely and customer-focused manner.
Coordinate with Housing Options, Housing Benefit, Adult Social Care, Children's Services, and other partners to ensure integrated service delivery.
Ensure accommodation meets statutory standards and Council expectations.
Qualifications
Good general standard of education including GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
Essentials
Experience working within a housing, homelessness, customer service, administrative, or support services environment.
Experience providing administrative support and maintaining accurate records.
Understanding of equality, diversity, safeguarding, and confidentiality principles.
Ability to maintain accurate records and use electronic case management systems.
