About this role
The Trust wishes to appoint a paediatric specialist responsible for providing clinical leadership within either Greater Manchester or Cheshire and Merseyside. This person will be the sectors internal clinical expert and reference point for Paediatric Dentistry and related services. This individual will work with the Network Clinical Director and Clinical Directors to ensure that patients receive the very best care from the Trust. Work will be carried out in accordance with the Primary Care Trust Dental Service Directions 2006, or such successor Directions as may from time to time be enacted. Reporting professionally to the Lead Clinical Director of Dental services you will assist with any clinical matters relating to paediatric dentistry across the sector footprint and undertake duties as delegated by the Lead Clinical Director of Dental services. You will attend relevant external and internal clinical networks, where necessary initiating and maintaining those networks. Tenure The role will be a permanent appointment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical The clinical activities undertaken by the post holder will be those necessary to comply with the paediatric dentistry contracts that the Trust holds Communication Communicate effectively with the following. Patients, carers, families, and user groups regarding complex clinical issues relating to paediatric dentistry and/or in difficult situations. Clinical teams and peers in relation to paediatric dentistry in leadership situations. Other health and social care professionals relating to paediatric dentistry. Operational managers and corporate services teams in the Trust. Management & Leadership Provide clinical leadership to paediatric services operating across multiple sites within the sector May undertake appraisals, personal development plans and job plans for other dentists who provide treatment to paediatric patients.
Provide advice about
The legislative framework (For example in relation to GDC Standards) to support on such matters to other members of the dental team. Specialist registration and the provision of specialist and specialised care.
Work with
Corporate support services within the Trust for example in dealing with complaints and incidents.
Manage
External relationships with senior managerial and clinical colleagues, including Operational Managers in the Trust and Commissioning Teams. Provide support and direct input to: Dental Clinical Governance meetings including audit Team meetings Any other such groups that may be established within the Trust Professionalism Provide advice and/or support to colleagues or managers on ethical issues in relation to special care dentistry including interpretation of GDC guidance (Maintaining Standards and CPD requirements.) Actively participate in and manage others in relation to appraisal, peer review, clinical audit and continuing professional development activities; lead peer review, clinical audit or CPD activities.
