About this role

Room Leader

Up to £34,200 per year | Level 3 | 42.5 Hours per Week

For children, every corner of a nursery can become an opportunity to discover something new.

This Good Ofsted-rated nursery combines a warm, homely atmosphere with exciting spaces that encourage children to create, investigate, and learn through play. From adventurous outdoor areas filled with stimulating activities to a dedicated allotment where children can get hands-on with nature, there is always something new to explore.

As a Level 3 Room Leader, you'll take the lead in making these experiences meaningful. You'll create an environment where children feel secure enough to be curious, confident enough to try new things, and supported to develop at their own pace.

Alongside leading the day-to-day running of your room, you'll guide and motivate your team, sharing ideas and encouraging high-quality practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced early years professional who wants to make their mark while continuing to develop their leadership career.

What We're Looking For

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within an early years setting.
  • Experience as a Room Leader, Deputy Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding requirements.
  • Confidence leading, supporting, and developing a room team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A creative approach to early years education and a passion for learning through play.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor learning and helping children connect with the natural world.

What You'll Receive

  • Salary of up to £34,200 per year
  • 42.5-hour full-time contract
  • Discounted childcare
  • Sick pay scheme
  • Regular team events
  • Health and wellbeing programme
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Genuine opportunities for career progression
  • The chance to work within a Good Ofsted-rated nursery with fantastic outdoor learning environments

Your Role

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day running of your room.
  • Lead and inspire your team to deliver consistently high standards of care and education.
  • Create engaging learning experiences based around children's individual interests and developmental needs.
  • Make the most of the nursery's indoor and outdoor environments, including its exciting play spaces and allotment.
  • Encourage children to develop confidence, curiosity, creativity, and independence.
  • Support and mentor practitioners, helping them grow within their roles.
  • Build strong relationships with children and their families.
  • Oversee observations and assessments to ensure every child's learning journey is effectively supported.
  • Maintain excellent standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and early years practice.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
