About this role

1.1 For the Child and family 5.1.1. Responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development,Implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes ofcare to babies.5.1.2. Carries out relevant programmes of care without direct supervision.5.1.3 Co-operates with other disciplines as required to meet the needs ofthe baby and family.5.1.4 Facilities family centred care Providing information and support toFamilies to enable them to care for their baby within the neonatalEnvironment.5.1.5 Participates in the implementation of new research based ideas inOrder to promote higher quality care. 5.2 Standards of Care 5.2.1 Plans and delivers patient care that is safe, professional, compassionate andconsistent with established patient care standards.5.2.2 Ensures that the postholder and all nursing staff act at all times inAccordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the policy andguidelines provided by The Whittington Health.5.2.3 Attends study days, as nominated, providing feedback to the NICUand maintains own professional and education knowledge within the specialityof neonatal care. 5.3 Education and Teaching Responsibilities 5.3.2 Participates in the practical teaching of Foundations in Neonatal Carelearners/midwifery /Students nurses.5.3.2 Where appropriate is able to give advice and demonstrations toParents.5.3.3 Assist in producing an environment conducive of continual learningfor all staff.5.3.4 Participates in the orientation of new members of staff. 5.4 Communication 5.4.1 Maintains efficient and effective communication with the NICUSister or his/her deputy on all matters relating to the area of care of the babyand family.5.4.2 Informs the Ward Manager of any activity in theUnit, which affects patient care.5.4.3 Refers accidents, incidents and complaints to the Ward Manager.
