Our client is an established and growing UK business supplying products to trade and commercial customers across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Warehouse Operative to join their busy warehouse team and support the day-to-day running of the operation.

The Role

Reports To

Warehouse Manager

They are seeking a hands-on Working Warehouse Team Leader / Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of their busy warehouse operation.

This role is ideal for an experienced warehouse operative looking to take the next step in their career whilst remaining actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the warehouse.

The successful candidate will lead by example, working alongside the warehouse team whilst taking responsibility for coordinating workloads, maintaining standards and ensuring orders are dispatched accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Support and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the warehouse team
  • Allocate workloads and priorities to ensure orders are processed efficiently
  • Lead by example and promote a positive, productive working environment
  • Provide support, guidance and training to warehouse operatives
  • Assist with the induction and development of new starters
  • Escalate performance, attendance or conduct issues to management where required

Warehouse Operations

  • Carry out picking, packing and dispatch duties alongside the warehouse team
  • Ensure customer orders are picked accurately and dispatched on time
  • Support goods-in processes, ensuring deliveries are checked and booked correctly
  • Oversee loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Support customer and trade counter collections where required
  • Assist with courier collections and transport arrangements
  • Manage returns and stock discrepancies

Stock Control

  • Support stock accuracy and warehouse organisation
  • Carry out cycle counts and assist with stock takes
  • Investigate and resolve stock issues and discrepancies
  • Ensure stock is stored safely and correctly

Health & Safety

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment
  • Ensure warehouse housekeeping standards are maintained at all times
  • Ensure warehouse equipment and FLTs are operated safely and correctly
  • Report hazards, accidents and near misses promptly

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ warehouse experience
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring colleagues within a warehouse environment
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workloads within a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to occasionally stay later to support operational requirements and assist with periodic weekend stock takes.

Desirable

  • Previous supervisory or warehouse team leader experience
  • Experience working within a wholesale, distribution or manufacturing environment
