Job Responsibilities
- Assist, plan, and supervise the coordination of the payroll function within a large organisation.
- Communicate effectively with staff within the payroll section to ensure smooth operations and coordination of all activities.
- Provide information, advice, guidance, and training to staff at all levels regarding payroll systems, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare, reconcile, and submit Real Time Information (RTI) reports accurately and on time.
- Reconcile pension returns to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to Financial Regulations and internal controls.
- Interpret legislative changes and update payroll processes accordingly.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and guidance related to payroll, including Apprenticeship Levy, Salary Sacrifice, and Off Payroll Working.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Immediately available to commence employment in Inverness for a minimum of 6 months.
- Possession of a CIPFA Certificate in LG Payroll Administration or equivalent qualification, or significant experience in payroll administration within a local government setting.
- Experience in developing and managing modern payroll systems.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and accept responsibility.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
- Excellent understanding of information systems, technology, and data management.
- Knowledge of current payroll legislation and guidance, including Apprenticeship Levy, Salary Sacrifice, and Off Payroll Working.
- Ability to interpret legislative changes and implement necessary updates effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of providing clear guidance and training to staff at all levels.
