What you will do
•
Clinical Pharmacy Services
Provide expert pharmaceutical care to surgical patients, ensuring safe and effective medication management.
•
Medicines Optimisation
Review and optimise medication regimens to support positive patient outcomes and reduce medication-related risks.
•
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Work closely with surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
•
Patient Counselling
Deliver medication advice and counselling to patients, promoting understanding and adherence to treatment plans.
•
Medication Reviews
Conduct detailed medication reviews and contribute to clinical decision-making within surgical pathways.
•
Education and Training
Support the development of junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students through teaching and mentoring.
•
Service Development
Assist with the development, implementation, and review of clinical protocols, guidelines, and service improvements.
•
Clinical Governance
Ensure compliance with professional standards, medicines governance frameworks, and hospital policies.
•
Record Keeping
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with organisational requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
•
Pharmacy Qualification
Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent recognised qualification.
•
Registration
Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
•
Experience
Significant post-registration experience within hospital pharmacy settings, ideally including surgical services.
•
Clinical Knowledge
Strong understanding of medicines optimisation, surgical pathways, and clinical pharmacy practice.
•
Communication Skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
•
Leadership Skills
Experience supporting, training, or mentoring junior pharmacy staff.
•
Teamwork
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary clinical environments.
•
Driving Requirement
Access to reliable transportation is required, as occasional travel may be necessary.
