About this role
To support the ward sister in managing the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit and contribute to the development and promotion of the nursing service, ensuring the delivery of high quality, cost effective care. To participate in the development of patient pathways, policies and protocols, to enable changes in practice to be achieved, implemented, evaluated and disseminated. To be involved in the development of the Haematology and Oncology Cancer Nursing Service, in collaboration with the MDT, to meet patient and service needs. To build effective working relationships with the multidisciplinary teams within and across providers, to meet patient and service needs, acting as patient advocate and representing nursing views. To provide, receive, interpret and communicate complex information with a range of health care personnel. To ensure that all LERNs are investigated in a timely manner and in accordance with Trust policy and to escalate appropriately incidents following investigation of complaints or LERNs. To ensure all staff are provided with individual and team feedback on reported incidents and the actions take and to disseminate widely any learning points to the whole team.
