Leadership To lead with a focus on the operational delivery of clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to CRIC Services in accordance with the priorities set by the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist in close liaison with the Consultants pharmacists, in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs in these patients. To provide strategic leadership for medicines optimisation across the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care Directorate, ensuring pharmacy services support the Directorate, Evelina London and Trust strategic objectives. To identify and promote best practice To provide delivery of the clinical governance agenda in relation to drug use in in the CRIC directorate in liaison with the Consultant Pharmacists To motivate and inspire others (both within pharmacy and the wider paediatric community) To proactively develop clinical pharmacy services in line with local and national objectives To lead the development, implementation and evaluation of long-term pharmacy service strategies in response to changing patient populations, clinical advances and organisational priorities. To demonstrate innovation and extend the boundaries of the profession To act as the senior pharmacy representative within Directorate governance structures and contribute to Directorate decision-making processes. To influence clinical and operational practice through participation in Directorate, Clinical Group and Trust-wide committees and working groups. To demonstrate expert practice in aspects of medicines management in CRIC Services. To provide medicines management advice on complex clinical cases To provide professional and clinical leadership across Southeast London and national paediatric pharmacy networks with a particular focus on paediatric respiratory medicine. To represent Evelina London Pharmacy on regional and national specialist groups, medicines optimisation forums and professional networks. To contribute to the development of regional and national guidance, standards and policy relating to paediatric pharmacy practice. Management of service To enable the safe provision of clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service in accordance with the priorities set by the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist in close liaison with the Consultants pharmacists in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients To manage the operational delivery of pharmaceutical services to the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service Provide effective line management for pharmacy staff, including recruitment, retention, performance management, appraisal, training, mentorship and succession planning, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and the development of a skilled, engaged and high-performing workforce. To identify and prioritise clinical pharmacy services to the directorate To reconcile national priorities with local realities To help ensure national and local agendas are delivered To establish processes for the setting of standards of care To identify and manage changes that need to occur to achieve these in liaison with the Consultant Pharmacists, to lead service transformation, skill mix review redesign and quality improvement programmes that enhance patient outcomes, improve efficiency and support delivery of Trust objectives. To evaluate emerging models of care and implement innovative approaches to medicines management across the Directorate. To identify and manage the risks involved To delegate authority appropriately to junior staff To evaluate performance against identified criteria using Trust PDR tools To promote Improvements in working Lives To provide evaluated pharmaceutical and financial information for Childrens Services in accordance with the needs of the directorate To manage changes in prescribing practices that may impact on the drugs budget. To identify new prescribing practices that may impact on the medication budget (horizon scanning) To provide expert financial stewardship for medicines expenditure within the Directorate, supporting delivery of efficiency programmes whilst maintaining high standards of patient care To lead the evaluation and implementation of high-cost medicines, biosimilars and cost-improvement initiatives through collaboration with clinical and operational teams. To demonstrate professional accountability to service users, stakeholders and the profession Help produce and implement business plans for all advancements of pharmacy services To be aware of and adhere to SFIs and the Trusts Corporate Governance commitments Evaluation of Service To monitor clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service in accordance with the objectives set by the post holder and Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist in close liaison with the Consultants pharmacists in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients. Help ensure that the quality of the Paediatric pharmacy services is recognised as a leader in the national field in line with the corporate objectives To evaluate the contributions of the Paediatric pharmacists to the directorate To ensure departmental standards are met To undertake clinical audit as part of the multi-disciplinary audit process To undertake assessments / evaluations as required Clinical Practice To act as a clinical role model for Paediatric pharmacists and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs in these patients Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge in Paediatrics particularly respiratory medicine To prescribe in the area of Paediatrics under Independent Prescribing Legislation (if required by the service) To follow legal, ethical, professional and employers codes of conduct To plan, manage, monitor and review therapeutic programmes To develop recognition as a national expert within the speciality of paediatric clinical pharmacy and paediatric respiratory medicine To enhance the quality of patient care To manage difficult and ambiguous problems To tolerate uncertainty To make decisions with limited information To demonstrate an intuitive grasp of situations based on deep tacit understanding To demonstrate a whole-system patient-focused approach To demonstrate advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement To participate as a contributor of the SEL Paediatric Formulary To demonstrate professional accountability to Paediatric patients To demonstrate awareness and commitment to the Trusts Clinical Governance Agenda. Research and Development To develop and deliver on the Research & Development Agenda surrounding Paediatric Medicines Management within Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Paediatric Respiratory service in liaison with the Consultant pharmacists To demonstrate a critical approach towards pharmacy practice in paediatrics To integrate research evidence into practice To identify gaps in the evidence base To support the development of research capability amongst pharmacy staff. To guide and support others undertaking research To develop, implement, monitor and evaluate protocols and guidelines To actively seek to improve the ward and clinical services provided Education and Training To identify training needs of staff in order to undertake the roles required To develop strategies to meet the training needs of staff To lead and develop the training programme for the Clinical Diploma within Childrens Services To liaise with Academia to collaborate in the development of training courses for paediatric staff To provide education and training to pharmacy and other staff in relation to Paediatrics To evaluate the training provided To ensure Paediatric pharmacists training needs are identified and met To participate in the clinical training of the ward pharmacists To identify own training needs To actively seek novel opportunities to meet training needs To maintain a portfolio of practice To maintain a broad level of pharmacy practice To participate in other areas of clinical pharmacy practice in order to ensure a broad base of pharmaceutical knowledge To participate in relevant Senior Pharmacy Staff Meetings To participate in relevant Directorate Meetings To liaise with other clinical pharmacists to ensure efficient transfer of drug related care. To participate in education and training programmes to develop skills as part of a commitment to continuing education and the concept of lifelong learning. To be aware of, and apply, relevant legislation such as the H & SAWA, COSHH, Medicines Act, GMP etc. To always practice in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Royal College of Pharmacy. To participate in the weekend, bank holiday and back up rotas.
