About this role
Purpose of the role To provide high quality, patient centred primary medical care to the practice population, working within the practice team to deliver safe, effective and accessible services. The post holder will share responsibility for the day to day clinical work of the practice, including helping to meet demand for urgent same-day appointments and supporting continuity of care. Clinical responsibilities Provide consultations to patients attending the surgery, by telephone, online and on home visits as clinically appropriate. Take a share of duty doctor and same-day urgent access sessions, triaging and managing acute presentations safely. Assess, diagnose and treat patients across the full range of general practice, making appropriate referrals to secondary care and other services. Prescribe safely and cost effectively in line with practice and ICB formulary guidance, and contribute to medicines optimisation and repeat prescribing. Review and action investigation results, clinical correspondence and documents in a timely way. Contribute to the ongoing management of patients with long term conditions and to delivery of the Quality and Outcomes Framework and local and enhanced services. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and coded records using EMIS Web Recognise and act on safeguarding concerns for children and adults at risk in line with practice policy and statutory duties. Professional and organisational responsibilities Work within your professional competence and the standards of Good Medical Practice, maintaining GMC registration, a National Performers List inclusion and appropriate indemnity. Keep up to date through continuing professional development and complete annual appraisal and revalidation. Take part in practice meetings, clinical governance, significant event analysis, audit and quality improvement. Support the practice in meeting its contractual, regulatory (CQC) and information governance obligations. General duties Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with data protection and information governance requirements at all times. Work in accordance with practice policies including health and safety, equality and diversity, and infection prevention and control. Treat patients and colleagues with dignity and respect, and promote an inclusive and supportive working environment.
