About this role

This role is ideal for an experienced tutor or qualified teacher who is passionate about helping young people improve their confidence and attainment in Mathematics.

As an After School Maths Tutor, you will deliver engaging 1:1 or small group sessions tailored to each student's individual needs. You will help students close learning gaps, strengthen their understanding of key mathematical concepts, and support their progress towards GCSEs and other qualifications.

The successful candidate will be working with vulnerable young people; students with SEND, SEMH, those at risk of exclusion, LAC. You will play a key role in re-engaging students with learning, building positive relationships, and supporting both their academic progress and overall confidence.

The successful

Maths Tutor will have

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent teaching qualification - essential
  • A minimum of 1 year's teaching or tutoring experience
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Maths curriculum
  • Experience working with vulnerable learners, including those with SEND, SEMH, behavioural needs or gaps in education
  • Experience delivering engaging and effective Maths tuition
  • The ability to plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, supportive and encouraging approach
  • Recent safeguarding training, or willingness to complete Prospero Teaching's safeguarding training

Applicants must

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • Provide two professional references relating to work with children or young people
