Designated Safeguarding Lead (Grade 4) SEN College | Part-Time (4 Days per Week) | September Start
Josh from Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and committed Grade 4 Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join a specialist college supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) from September.
This is a part-time position, working 4 days per week, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and welfare of college-aged learners. Alongside your safeguarding responsibilities, you will also deliver mentoring, coaching, and employability sessions, helping students develop the confidence, skills, and independence they need for their future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all safeguarding and child protection responsibilities in line with statutory guidance.
- Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns, making referrals and liaising with external agencies where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding records and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Deliver mentoring and coaching sessions to support students personal development and well-being.
- Plan and deliver employability sessions, preparing learners for further education, training, or employment.
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- Supporting a high number of Looked After Pupils
- Supporting 14- 19 year olds with needs ranging from SEMH, ADHD, ADD, ASD, ASC, OTDD, OCD, Anxiety, Trauma, Stress and Depression
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a safeguarding leadership role, a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice, and experience working with young people with additional needs. Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills are essential.
