About this role
Masstemps are currently recruiting for an experineced CNC machine cnc setter operator to join a busy and expanding manufacturing company based in the heart of Kidderminster.
The CNC Setter Operator is responsible for keeping spindles running by efficiently loading machines with material, whilst ensuring all machine tools are kept clean and do not build up with too much swarf. All work produced must be up to the established parameters and specifications given by the setter of the machine tool. The job holder must be competent at setting machines with minimal supervision, making alterations where required to ensure work produced is of a high standard. A good understanding of the differences between tools and how this can affect machine performance is essential.
The role
General and Task Management
Machine Setup
Setter operators configure machines according to specific job requirements. This includes loading materials, securing workpieces, and installing necessary tooling and fixtures. Proper setup is crucial for efficient operation and product quality
Operating Machinery
They operate machines during production runs, closely monitoring performance to maintain efficiency and quality. This involves making adjustments as needed to ensure that production targets are met.
Routine Maintenance
Regular/ Simple maintenance tasks are performed to keep machines in optimal condition. This includes cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to minimize downtime and prevent malfunctions.
Troubleshooting
Setter operators are responsible for identifying and resolving simple & basic issues when machines malfunction or when product quality is substandard. This skill is vital for maintaining productivity and ensuring that products meet required specifications. This includes liaising with the necessary support functions to assist manufacturing in uptime.
Quality Control
Conduct quality control checks, measuring and inspecting parts or products to ensure they meet established specifications once any tooling changes are undertaken. This helps maintain high-quality standards in the manufacturing process.
Safety Compliance
Adherence to safety protocols and regulations is a key responsibility. Setter operators must follow safety procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues
Documentation
Maintaining accurate records of machine settings, production runs, maintenance tasks, and any issues encountered during manufacturing is also part of their duties. This documentation is essential for tracking performance and ensuring compliance with quality standard.
Hours of work
We currently have 2 shifts available.
Rotational - Mon - Fri 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm
OR
Fixed Nights - Sun - Thurs 10pm-6am
Rate of pay
£15.00 - £18.00 per hour based on experience
