About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of innovative low-carbon energy solutions, including heat pump systems, energy centres, and plantroom installations across the UK.
This role will play a key part in delivering decarbonisation projects within the NHS, public sector, and commercial environments, working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
-Produce mechanical designs, calculations and technical specifications for energy centre and plantroom projects
-Develop 2D/3D CAD drawings and review outputs from junior engineers
-Support system sizing, thermal modelling and equipment selection
Project Delivery
-Assist with the delivery of projects from concept through to commissioning
-Work closely with Project Managers, Designers and site teams
-Ensure designs align with programme, cost and technical requirements
Testing & Commissioning
-Support commissioning of mechanical systems including heat pumps and HVAC plant
-Participate in system testing, fault finding and performance validation
-Ensure systems meet operational and efficiency targets
Compliance & Standards
-Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements
-Undertake risk assessments and contribute to safe system design
-Support quality assurance and technical reviews
Stakeholder Management
-Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors
-Provide technical input during meetings and design reviews
-Support clear communication of engineering solutions to non-technical stakeholders
Skills & Experience
Essential
-Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
-Experience in MEP, HVAC, energy centres or plantroom design
-Strong CAD experience (AutoCAD, Revit or similar)
-Good understanding of mechanical systems, heat transfer and fluid dynamics
-Knowledge of UK building regulations and standards
Desirable
-Experience with heat pumps / decarbonisation projects / Traditional Building Services Design
-Working towards or already Chartered (CEng)
-Familiarity with NHS or public sector projects Mechanical and electrical design formatting
